In 2007, it happened to me to meet professor Walter Gilbert, the 1980 Nobel Prize in Chemistry winner.
By that time, he retired as a Harvard University professor and came to the University of Maryland to attend a grand opening a creative photography exhibition, Points of Transformation, where his works were presented along with works by Craig Schaffer.
Above you can see a catalog of photographs by Wally Gilbert, presented at the Viridian Artists Gallery in 2006, he signed for me.
We had a good conversation during reception followed the opening of the exhibition, and then more talks next day when I took him from his hotel to the airport.
Professor Gilbert told me that his grand father in his early age immigrated to the US from Ukrainian Polissya.
